Reflections: MILAN parte uno
I love this city. There’s a great contrast between the street punks and the bourgeois, but everyone shares one thing. Character. You see so many characters walking around, just look at the Sartorialist, it really is just as he shoots it.
The flea markets in Milan are some of my favorites. We go to Porta Naviglio for the huge market held on the last Sunday of each month (starting in September), mainly for antique or collectable home interior pieces, and vintage laces, buttons, and trims.
Every third Sunday of the month there is a smaller market on via Brera, which is just a great walking area in general. Small bars, cafes, and restaurants, art stores, galleries, and smaller boutiques at more affordable prices. I go to this one mainly for art or jewelry. I found those 1960’s fashion illustrations here!
My favorite place to eat in the Brera area is Convivium. Everything on the menu is delectable, but during the Summer they have an amazing salmon dish thinly sliced, topped with caper berries. Yummm.
